Holistic Care, Food + Nutrition Advice, Lifestyle Practice, Education and Coaching

HopeforHealthlogo

Most of my clients are in their 30s to 50s with busy work and family schedules. They need advice that works quickly and is easy to implement. Many of my clients see changes in only 1-2 sessions, and come back after that only tweak the improvements further.

A lot of my clients come to discuss either weight loss or menopause symptoms but find that working with me and changing just a few things also improves energy levels, sleep, aches and pains and a host of other issues.

I care about your whole person and your whole family situation. The solutions we find are created in partnership with your needs and goals.

I can work with you individually or you can start by gaining basic nutrition knowledge in a group. I can also come to your home to help you learn cooking skills if this is desired.

The business, Hope for Health, is a culmination of thoughts, ideas, passions and specific targeted learning from my 15 years+ working in General Practice, alongside all the life experience I have obtained from being both a working mum with an autisic child, and someone who personally struggles with various inflammatory related health issues.

I utilise the current research and advice in diet and nutrition, lifestyle medicine, holistic care and metabolic health. I have tried a lot of things for myself and found some things that work and other things that don't. I have observed the real world experiences of many patients both in the NHS and outside it. This learning and these experiences give me a unique insight into what works (and doesn't) for different individuals and enables me to tailor my input to you in a way that addresses your health needs within the framework of your life circumstances.

Discover your healthy lifestyle

We all know that different things in our lifestyle might be effecting us in different ways. I want to help you look at your exercise, sleep, social interactions and downtime as well as your nutrition, to enable you to get the best from life for you. This is not the same for everyone, we all have different goals, different stressors, different personalities and different body types. I work with you in each of these areas as you and I together feel is appropriate.

Healthy Food

01

Weight Loss

26% of the UK adult population are classified as obese by the NHS, so if you are one of them you are not alone. You may have tried many diets, but not yet found the thing that sustains your weight loss. Often this is due to a combination of factors including your gut microbiome, your underlying metabolic rate and other health and illness issues. We can work together to try to understand you and your body's needs within a holistic setting, taking into account wider social factors that are also important to you.

03

Helping with Metabolic Syndrome and other inflammation issues

Metabolic syndrome is when you have 3 or more "problematic numbers" - from high blood pressure, high triglyceride levels, increased waist circumference, high blood sugars, and low HDL levels.

All these "problematic numbers" are signs of long term systemic (whole body) inflammation. Many people will also have symptoms of this inflammation - including many instances of low back pain, arthritis, many allergy type issues, poor circulation to hands and feet, general body aches, tiredness and many other niggly and difficult to define symptoms.

Even one of these "problematic numbers", or niggly symptoms may give you or your GP cause for concern, yet often changing your diet and lifestyle just a bit can start to correct all of them, whilst also lowering your risks for many serious health issues.

02

Considering how Food effects Mood

Many people do not realise how much what we eat effects how we feel. From simple sugar highs and lows to more complex issues involving gut health and micronutrients we can work to stabilise and improve your mood through your food choices at any stage of your life. Particualr crunch points for many people seem to be those "change times" - puberty, menopause, retirement, job change, relationship change etc. Looking at your diet within the holistic care model can be really effective in improving you mood and energy levels.

04

Improving Gut Health

It turns out that interest in the gut in medicine may not be new - Hippocrates is quoted as having said "all disease starts in the gut" and, whilst our understanding of this has changed, it seems he was heading in the right direction over 2000 year ago. Unfortunately our ultra-processed foods and our frequent "eating on the run" have caused many people to have unhealthy gut microbiomes and we are realising more and more the significant effects of this on multiple systems of the body. Luckily improving your gut microbiome can be very simple with some small habit changes.

05

Food and Cooking Skills

Over the years that I have been interested in food and nutrition it has become more and more clear to me that many people would love to eat more healthily and cook more from scratch, but don't know where to start. I have developed a way of thinking about food that makes this easy and I would love to share it with you. My approach looks firstly at helping you undrstand cooking methods and flavour combinations, and from this you can quickly and eaisly build nutritious meals that suit your tastes and your budget.

To make this as easy as possible for you to be able to get started quickly on your own, I will come to your house and work with you using your own equipment and cooking facilities. No kitchen is too small and much can be achieved with little in the way of pans, gadgets etc.
