Single Gear or masticating juicers use a single gear that chews fibers of the fruits and vegetables to extract the nutrients, resulting in more fiber, enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals in the juice. Masticating juicers are usually more efficient than centrifugal and will juice most fruits and vegetables. They will also juice wheatgrass, spinach, and other leafy greens and herbs even though the Champion Juicer does not juice wheatgrass or greens well.
Twin Gear triturating juicers may cost more than other juicers, but they offer the most benefits. These juicers - the Green Star Juicer and Samson Ultra, turn at slower speeds causing less oxidation from foam and less destruction of nutrients from heat. Triturating juicers like Green Star juicers are the most efficient juicer producing larger volumes of juice, fiber, enzymes, vitamins and trace minerals. Both the Green Star Juicer 1000 and Green Star Juicer 3000 can also homogenize.
Make homemade ice cream and sorbets that are guilt-free! Masticating juicers operate at slower speeds (rpm) than centrifugal juicers, causing less foam and heat and therefore, greater nutritional benefit. Masticating juicers are also more versatile than centrifugal juicers because, not only do they extract juices, but they also homogenize foods to make baby foods, pates, sauces, nut butters, banana ice creams, and fruit sorbets.
