Dried Flowers are not only beautiful, fragrant, and appealing, but they also have other purposes. They are ideal for potpourri that can be scented with essential oils. Many people use dried flowers as tea or grind the flowers into a powder to put into capsules for medicinal purposes. Traditionally, hibiscus flowers are used in many herbal teas due to its beautiful color, good taste, and high vitamin C content. Conversely, feverfew does not taste as good as hibiscus flowers, so feverfew is often taken in capsules. Usually people use feverfew for migraine headaches, lavender for its calming fragrance, and chamomile tea for its relaxing properties. Lavender flowers work exceptionally well in potpourris and sachets. Used for a multitude of purposes, yarrow herb has been used to regulate bleeding (menstrual, nose bleeds, and severe bruising), for colds, allergies, asthma, digestion, and circulation. Because yarrow flowers act as a vasodilator, lower blood pressure can result.
It is said red rose petals express love and pink rose petals express gratitude, happiness, and thanks. But roses have other uses as well. In the past, roses have been used for circulation, diarrhea, fluid retention, high blood pressure treatment, indigestion, insomnia, painful menstruation, and stress. Rosebuds have a wonderful aroma. Try mixing rosebud powder with cornstarch and a few drops of rose otto and rosewood for a fragrant dusting powder for the body. Medicinal uses for linden flowers include its use to thin the blood and remove mucus. There are a number of medicinal herb purposes for calendula flowers. Use calendula for indigestion, flu, and fevers. Try using ground calendula petals externally for blisters, acne, athlete's foot, and bee stings. Customarily, red clover flowers are used as a mild sedative and a blood purifier. Also, red clover has been used to treat asthma and bronchitis. Traditionally, hops have been used for relaxation, sedation, and insomnia. Used topically, arnica has been applied to bruises, sore muscles, and sprains like foot sprain. Remember to use these subtle yet powerful flowers for all their benefits.
