Containers come in many different shapes and sizes. Try to select the best size and type container for the use you have in mind. Keep pure essential oils and oil blends in spray bottles and glass containers. Storing aromatherapy blends in airtight containers keeps vapors from escaping so when you want to mist healing relief with pure essential oils, the relief is there. It is best to replace bottle droppers with caps when not in use to preserve the rubber portion of the bottle dropper. Over time, the vapors from essential oils can break down the rubber. Keep lotions, creams, ointments, and salves in glass jars or plastic jars.
Keep a fresh blend in glass bottles handy to freshen up the air in your locker, in shoes, baby’s room, or to eliminate pet odors. Glass storage containers like the amber essential oil bottles and cobalt blue glass bottles are ideal for this purpose. The dark amber and cobalt blue glass bottles protect the oils from ultraviolet light thus preserving shelf life. Transferring oils to smaller glass containers as they are used helps reduce exposure to oxygen, which also helps preserve the oils. Transfer smaller amounts of lotions and creams from larger containers to small containers for the same reason as well as to save space for travel. Homemade creams and lotions can be put in small plastic containers or small glass jars, but larger glass containers work well too if the product is used up quickly.
There are lots of uses for these small containers. The small glass and plastic jars are appropriate to use as salve containers. Put lip moisturizing formulas and gloss in lip balm containers. These small containers are perfect for carrying in a cosmetic bag in a purse. The larger plastic jars and cosmetic containers work well for home or office use. Store healing ointment or moisturizer lotion in the cosmetic jars. Protect your healing formulas in these small containers so the formulas can protect you.
