Bergamot oil is made from the peels of the Bergamot orange. Bergamot essential oil contains Limonene and linalool and is normalizing in effect. Bergamot oil blends well with lavender oil, neroli, Roman chamomile, coriander oil, and geranium oil. Adulterants are lime oil and Bitter orange oil, so if you are want the aromatherapy benefits found from Bergamot oil, be sure your aromatherapy essential oils are pure essential oils.

Botanical Name: Citrus bergamia Risso & Poit.
Family: Rutaceae.
Synonyms: Citrus x aurantium L. ssp. bergamia (Risso & Poit) Wight & Arn. ex Engl.; bergamot orange.
Origin: Native to tropical Asia. Bergamot grows almost exclusively in Calabria, Italy, and France. It is also grown commercially on the Ivory Coast.
Botanical Description: A delicate, small tree about 4-5-meters (16 ft) tall, with smooth oval leaves. It flowers in the spring and at the end of summer. The fruits are similar to oranges, but much smaller.
Oil Extraction: The peels of unripe fruits are cold expressed to produce bergomot essential oil. The oil is a clear, fluid yellowish-green iquid. 
Yield: 0.5%.
Aroma Profile: Bergamot has a rich, sweet-fruity, citrus top note. The middle note is more oily herbaceous, floral-citrus, and sweet. Dry out is lightly sweet-balsamic, clary-sage like.
Major Constituents: Limonene, linalool, linalyl acetate, γ-terpinene, and β-pinene.
Adulterants: Bitter orange oil, lime oil, synthetic linalool, and linalyl acetate.
Regulatory Status: GRAS 182.20.
Aromatherapy: Bergamot essential oil is confidence-building, normalizing, and uplifting.
Blends well with: Roman chamomile, coriander, cypress, geranium, jasmine, lavender oil, and neroli.
