About the Author

Ann Wigmore was born in 1909 in Lithuania and raised by her grandmother who inspired her passion for teaching the healing power of live foods. Years were expended researching an easy, inexpensive method to grow healthy foods inside. Sprouting was a solution to her search. Believing in the teachings of Hippocrates, who valued natural healing, Wigmore founded the Hippocrates Health Institute devoting herself to the education of the therapeutic powers of raw foods. In 1963, under her instructions, the Institute became a non-denominational, non-profit establishment and study facility. It carries on the philosophies of Hippocrates and Ann Wigmore herself concerning live foods, wheatgrass, and body care for healing.

To spread the information on detoxifying and healing of the body, mind, and spirit with living foods and sprouting seeds, Ann Wigmore wrote more than 15 books. There are over one million copies in circulation. In addition, she lectured in 20 countries. In 1990, the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute was founded to carry on her work. It was a haven for her and where she wrote the majority of her latest books. In 1994, Ann Wigmore passed away, but her teachings and philosophies live on.
